Holborn College hosted a Legal Training and Education workshop for the Punjab Bar Council on Wednesday 20th August 2008. Muhammad Arif Alvi, Deputy Attorney General for Pakistan, who chairs the Education Committee of the Bar Council led the delegation.
Delegates discussed the implications for democratic institutions and the judiciary of recent events in Pakistan and the role of the Punjab Bar Council in seeking to secure the reinstatement of the former Chief Justice.
The workshop dealt with recent developments in professional legal education and training in England & Wales and the role of the Commonwealth Legal Education Association.
Holborn College and the Punjab Bar Council agreed to work towards a MOU that establishes a nexus between legal education and the legal profession. It is intended that such an MOU will act as the catalyst for academic programme development and research and as the platform for promoting an LLM scholarship to members of the Punjab Bar Council.
