Helping your son or daughter find the right course for them is a difficult task, especially when they are looking to study away from home in a foreign country. That’s why we’ve dedicated a section of our website to you, the parents and family of the students we teach. You play a huge part in the success of your offspring by supporting them before, during and after their studies.
Whilst students are with us we try to ensure that our campuses are like a home away from home for them. Our staff do all that they can to help students settle in to life as a student in the UK, and we take our duty of care for your child incredibly seriously. We’re just as proud to be playing a part in your child’s academic and professional development as you are as parents, and together we can help them make the very best of their ability.

We want you to understand just as much as your son and daughter what UK education is all about, and the difference it can make to a young person’s life.
At Holborn College, we appreciate the important role that parents/guardians play in their son or daughter's experience of higher education. Every parent will be concerned for their child's welfare and will want them to have the best possible experience whilst they are studying.
What role do you play?
You play an important role when it comes to the success of your son or daughter whilst studying at Holborn College. Parents and guardians often times provide financial support, career guidance and aid to future life endeavours. Most significantly, but less obviously, parents provide an important element of stability at a time when many things are in a state of change - new friends, new responsibilities and new places. This life changing time can be overwhelming, but parents and guardians that provide a solid foundation and stability and support whilst their student is away from home truly aid in their student’s academic success. Students that receive this emotional back-up and support of family members tend to have a much easier transition to higher education.
As you know, applying to university, surviving the exams necessary to get there, obtaining a CAS letter and settling into a new and unfamiliar environment can be a difficult time and young people often need all the support they can get. If students get solid support from home, along with excellent pastoral care and guidance from Holborn College, they are on the right foot to achieving academic excellence.

While this section generally refers to parents, it applies equally to guardians and all other carers who may get involved. Holborn College generally welcome parents on open days and other events before enrolment and will invite you to other events during your student s’ time with us.
What if my student has a serious problem?
At Holborn College, we have a trained counsellor onsite and we assist students in a timely manner at to get them the assistance they need at their time of crisis.
What is counselling for?
This is for anyone who feels that they need support in dealing with difficulties they are going through. Often students may have feelings which are frightening, or which may seem embarrassing or unacceptable. In these circumstances it can help to speak to a professional. It is often easier to talk with someone you don’t know, as they can be objective about you and your problems in a way which may not be possible for friends and family.
What does counselling not do?
Counsellors do not give advice or tell you what to do. This is because what is right for one person is not necessarily right for another. In the counselling profession it is believed that everyone is capable of making their own choices and finding the outcome that is best for them. A counsellor will help you student to understand and clarify their feelings so that they can hopefully see more clearly what choices you have. However, if they are looking for specific advice or information, you may need to see someone other than, or in addition to, a counsellor. Student Services can provide assistance with this.
Faith
Holborn College is a diverse international community of students, faculty and staff, which many of whom have diverse religious beliefs. As part of its commitment to diversity and to creating a tolerant and inclusive community, the College recognises it is important that all are treated with equal dignity and respect, which includes respect for religious or other beliefs. Holborn College is concerned with permitting and facilitating the free practice of religion by its staff and students. There is a prayer room on campus which all faiths are permitted to use whilst affiliated with Holborn College and we do not run classes from 1-2pm on Fridays to minimise situations where our students education could clash with religious responsibilities.
Pastoral Care
At Holborn College, we have full time staff that are hired and trained to meet the needs of our students. Since it is a small, international academic community, we take pride and work hard at looking after our students and have a reputation as a friendly, supportive and caring community. Our staff will go the extra mile, so you will find understanding people who will support you and point you in the right direction, places for quiet reflection and a customer-focused service that make a real difference.
Paying Your Tuition Fees
Please note that all queries relating to the payment of tuition fees must be addressed to the College’s Finance Office. No other person or department within the College can deal with these issues. Payment of fees may be made by bank transfer, credit/debit card, cheque or cash in pounds sterling. To maintain our fees at their current good value it is essential that all fees are paid at the appropriate time. All students starting or re-enrolling must pay at least 50 per cent of their fees at the time of enrolment. The remaining 50% becomes due before or at the enrolment session of the next semester.
